10/07/2012 - £240,000 Funding Boost for Stoke Firms

A service that assists businesses across North Staffordshire to grow has been given a major funding boost.

The Stoke-on-Trent City Council managed 'Make It - Your Business - Stoke-on-Trent' service has been awarded £240,000 of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) money.

The funding, which is available until 2015 will mean that the service, formally known as Build Up North Staffordshire, can assist companies across a broader sector range and assist with specific sector support.

Furthermore, it will be able to assist businesses through business networking, tender opportunities, bid writing and training.

Norman Price, deputy chair of the West Midlands ERDF local management committee, commented:

"With the right opportunities and support, a number of key business sectors in Stoke-on-Trent have the potential to grow and expand. From building and environmental technologies to medical and creative industries, these sectors are vital to the future economy of the city. Through this ERDF-supported project businesses working within these areas will have access to a variety of support activities."
