11/05/2012 - Contest Aims to Forge UK-China Links

Cash prizes totalling £12,000 are available through a competition aiming to capitalise on the opportunities offered by business collaborations between China and the UK.

The UK-China Challenge aims to encourage new business ventures between China and the UK, as well as simulating the real-life process of aspiring entrepreneurs seeking out start-up funding from investors and venture capital firms.

At the culmination of the contest, one overall international winner may secure a £250,000 investment opportunity.

The UK section of the contest is split into two strands:

  • Tomorrow’s Leaders: for teams of students or recent graduates from UK universities.
  • Innovative Business: for existing businesses to come up with innovative new ideas that exploit China-UK relations.

First prize in each category will receive £2,500, with two runners-up in each section collecting £1,500 and £1,000 respectively. All UK prize-winners will then go head-to-head with the successful Chinese applicants to be named the International Grand Winner.

Initial entries must be made by 31 May 2012.

For further information about the competition, visit the dedicated China-UK Challenge website (opens a new window).
