13/07/2012 - Northern Ireland Householders Can Register for up to £1,000 for Boiler Replacement

This is an Advance Notice report providing outline information about the Northern Ireland Housing Executive’s Boiler Replacement Allowance, due to launch in September 2012.

The scheme will provide grant funding to replace inefficient boilers which are 15 years or older with new energy efficient condensing oil or gas boilers.

The amount payable will depend on the applicant's total income, with those earning less than £20,000 receiving £700 for replacing their boiler rising to £1,000 if controls are also being installed. For those earning £20,000 or more but less than £40,000 the grant is £400 for replacing their boiler, rising to £500 if controls are fitted.

The grants can be used to install energy efficient condensing oil or gas boilers; switching from oil to gas; or switching to a wood pellet boiler.

Owner occupiers of householders in Northern Ireland will be eligible to apply.

There are no stated deadlines at this stage. Details and deadline information (if applicable) will be reported once the scheme opens in September 2012.
