11/03/2010 - Second Chance To Net Fisheries Funding
The second funding round of the European Fisheries Fund in Northern Ireland is well underway.
Fisheries businesses have until 30 June to submit bids for funding during the new application window.
All four strands of the £36.2 million programme are available:
- Investment in Processing and Marketing – capital projects to build new or modernise existing production facilities between the harvest/landing and end product stages of production.
- Productive Investments in Aquaculture – funding to extend or modernise processing facilities, along with projects to diversify farmed species.
- Collective Actions - projects that will provide a wider collective benefit to the fishing and fisheries sectors in Northern Ireland and contribute to the objectives of the Common Fisheries Policy.
- Investment in Fishing Ports, Landing Sites & Shelters – grants to construct, enlarge, equip and modernise processing facilities across Northern Ireland.
The European Fisheries Fund will run from 2007 to 2013. As well as aiming to improve the competitiveness of the fishing sector, it also looks to protect the environment, encourage sustainable development, and improve the quality of life for coastal communities.
The current round is open to applications until 30 June.
